I’m A Mormon

Downloaded from: http://seminaryatsixam.blogspot.com/2013/03/im-mormon.html Would you wear this to school?Would you wear it all around town?Would you “wear your religion on your shirt?”Romans 1:16 helps answer these questions. These kids would and are wearing this shirt today. My Seminary students were challenged to wear this shirt today (some have school uniforms, so they were challenged to wear it before/after school or at a sports practice, etc.) Tomorrow we will discuss the reactions and…

Seminary Attendance Sheet (CSTAR friendly)

This attendance sheet makes it a breeze to transfer into CSTAR. If you’re wondering why all the different colors, I found that some students were getting their attendance lines confused with others (which makes for a ripe old mess). This way, students can stick to their color and keep the roll sheet clean. I’ve attached it as an excel doc so that you can change to your liking.

Old Testament Prophets in Similitude of Jesus Christ

This document contains a very valuable list of Old Testament prophets and the ways they were in similitude of Jesus Christ. It was shared with me by my friend, Jen. Thanks! This was given to me in a PowerPoint format, and I have changed the formatting to something I think is better. I am supplying it as a PDF and RTF file with the points listed alphabetically and my version…

Books of the New Testament Color Coded

I use these wordstrips to help my students learn the order of the books of the New Testament. We use these to compete by zone or individually. Students race to see who can order the books correctly first. This is also a good 2-5 minute time-filler if your lesson goes a little short. I laminate these and keep them in a ziplock bag ready to use whenever we need them….

And I did liken all scriptures unto [myself] … Jenny’s Apply poster

I am planning to use this handout to help my Seminary students learn to apply the scriptures to their lives. To me, “likening” the scriptures to ourselves applies to our lives in 3 ways — applying that scripture to a past feeling or experience, a present activity , trial, temptation, or relationship, or a future activity, trial, temptation, or relationship. I’m hoping that this visual aid will help students drill…

The Holy Land in New Testament Times – Bible Map 11 in classroom size

As part of my teaching of the New Testament this year, I am going to have students move a tiny cutout of Jesus Christ around a big map in order to help them visualize where Jesus is at the time of his teachings. I tried to buy a map from Distribution, but it doesn’t seem to exist. So I made my own. I made a few slight changes to make…

1 Corinthians 3, Ye Are The Temple Of God: Milk And Morality

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/1-corinthians-3-ye-are-the-temple-of-god-milk-and-morality/ ELDER DAVID A. BEDNAR: “The choices we make about the use of our personal temples will affect us throughout all eternity. “Because the physical body is so central to the Father’s plan of happiness and our spiritual development, we should not be surprised that Lucifer seeks to thwart our progression by enticing us to use our bodies improperly. It is to me one of the ultimate ironies of eternity that the adversary, who is miserable because he has no physical body and therefore cannot progress, seeks to make us miserable “like unto himself” (2 Ne. 2:27) through the improper use of our bodies. The very tool he does not have and cannot use thus is the primary instrument through which he attempts to lure us to spiritual destruction. “Our physical bodies indeed are temples of God. Consequently, you and I must carefully consider what we take into our temple, what we put on our temple, what we do to our temple, and what we do with our temple. And we can learn a number of important lessons by comparing the Church’s temples to our physical bodies as temples.” (Ye Are the Temple of God) Filed under: New Testament, Seminary Tagged: 1 Corinthians, Bible, Body, Builders, Chastity, DAB, Defile, Destroy, Education, Foundation, FSOY, […]

1 Corinthians 1-2, A Voice Of Warning: It’S All Greek To Me!

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/1-corinthians-1-2-a-voice-of-warning-its-all-greek-to-me/ What did it mean if someone called you a Corinthian? Corinth of Paul’s time was not the ancient Greek city but rather a Roman colony founded by decree of Julius Caesar in 44 B.C. on the ancient site, which had lain virtually desolate for more than a century. Its new population initially consisted of freedmen […]

Romans 14-16, Strengthening Your Weakest Link

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/romans-14-16-strengthening-your-weakest-link/ ELDER DALLIN H. OAKS: “As a General Authority, it is my responsibility to preach general principles. When I do, I don’t try to define all the exceptions. There are exceptions to some rules. For example, we believe the commandment is not violated by killing pursuant to a lawful order in an armed conflict. But don’t ask me to give an opinion on your exception. I only teach…
