Come Follow Me Resources: Why is it important for me to gain an education and develop skills?

I have not been consistent in the past few months of creating Come, Follow Me handouts, but I’m changing that (and next year: watch out!). The topic of self-reliance seems sort of out of place with such BIG doctrinal topics, but as I’ve studied it more…

A Father’s TIME is LOVE

I have a challenge for all of the fathers out there. This morning, after I had spent about an hour exercising with my five children (ages 2-11), I remembered a quote from President Dieter F. Uchtdorf that said,“In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time.” (“Of Things That Matter Most,” Ensign, Nov. 2010. See also, “T-I-M-E Spells Love”) As I recalled this quote, I thought, “In what ways […]

President J. Reuben Clark’s “The Charted Course of the Church in Education” Address to seminary and institute of religion leaders at the Brigham Young University summer school in Aspen Grove, Utah, on 8 August 1938 It would be well for every teacher of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to study, understand, and apply President J. 1 Corinthians 3, Ye Are The Temple Of God: Milk And Morality

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/1-corinthians-3-ye-are-the-temple-of-god-milk-and-morality/ ELDER DAVID A. BEDNAR: “The choices we make about the use of our personal temples will affect us throughout all eternity. “Because the physical body is so central to the Father’s plan of happiness and our spiritual development, we should not be surprised that Lucifer seeks to thwart our progression by enticing us to use our bodies improperly. It is to me one of the ultimate ironies of eternity that the adversary, who is miserable because he has no physical body and therefore cannot progress, seeks to make us miserable “like unto himself” (2 Ne. 2:27) through the improper use of our bodies. The very tool he does not have and cannot use thus is the primary instrument through which he attempts to lure us to spiritual destruction. “Our physical bodies indeed are temples of God. Consequently, you and I must carefully consider what we take into our temple, what we put on our temple, what we do to our temple, and what we do with our temple. And we can learn a number of important lessons by comparing the Church’s temples to our physical bodies as temples.” (Ye Are the Temple of God) Filed under: New Testament, Seminary Tagged: 1 Corinthians, Bible, Body, Builders, Chastity, DAB, Defile, Destroy, Education, Foundation, FSOY, […]
