General Relief Society Broadcast 2013 Thoughts

I’m not going to lie…I didn’t catch much of the General Relief Society broadcast last night. I had plans to watch with my mother and sisters, but the stomach flu overcame me and my children, so our plans turned into crackers, water, and sleeping near…

“moroni” Night

Downloaded from: http://ldsywideasandactivities.blogspot.com/2013/01/moroni.html Recently, I was surprised to learn that many of the girls didn’t realize that Captain Moroni (famous military leader who raised the Title of Liberty) and Moroni (the last righteous Nephite, last of the Nephite Prophets, who completed hid the plates and 1,400 years later appeared to Joseph Smith to teach him and later show him the location of the plates) are not the same person. Captain…

1 Corinthians 4-6, “Chews” Purity!

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/1-corinthians-4-6-chews-purity/ ELDER JEFFREY R. HOLLAND:  “On your wedding day the very best gift you can give your eternal companion is your very best self–clean and pure and worthy of such purity in return.”  (“Personal Purity”, Ensign, Nov. 1998) PRESIDENT GORDON B. HINCKLEY: “You cannot give to your companion a greater gift than that of marriage in […]

1 Corinthians 3, Ye Are The Temple Of God: Milk And Morality

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/1-corinthians-3-ye-are-the-temple-of-god-milk-and-morality/ ELDER DAVID A. BEDNAR: “The choices we make about the use of our personal temples will affect us throughout all eternity. “Because the physical body is so central to the Father’s plan of happiness and our spiritual development, we should not be surprised that Lucifer seeks to thwart our progression by enticing us to use our bodies improperly. It is to me one of the ultimate ironies of eternity that the adversary, who is miserable because he has no physical body and therefore cannot progress, seeks to make us miserable “like unto himself” (2 Ne. 2:27) through the improper use of our bodies. The very tool he does not have and cannot use thus is the primary instrument through which he attempts to lure us to spiritual destruction. “Our physical bodies indeed are temples of God. Consequently, you and I must carefully consider what we take into our temple, what we put on our temple, what we do to our temple, and what we do with our temple. And we can learn a number of important lessons by comparing the Church’s temples to our physical bodies as temples.” (Ye Are the Temple of God) Filed under: New Testament, Seminary Tagged: 1 Corinthians, Bible, Body, Builders, Chastity, DAB, Defile, Destroy, Education, Foundation, FSOY, […]

Setting Our Hearts Now

Downloaded from: http://somesweettalkinggirl.blogspot.com/2013/02/setting-our-hearts-now.html One of our activities this month consisted of decorating cookies, cutting out hearts and then “heart Attacking” some of our girls we have not seen lately. Since it was before Valentines day we wanted to think about our Hearts, what they are set on and what their treasures are. What are the things that occupy our Hearts? What is most important to us? How do our choices and decisions show what…

YW Temple Value Element – Faith

This is based on the Inspire Logo I created for another project. I got “inspired” myself and realized that nearly all of the YW values have the letter ‘i’ in them. Those that don’t have letter ‘i’ were easy to implement, too. I hope it reminds leaders and young women that “as we strive the young women values … we will be prepared to make and keep sacred covenants, receive…
