What to do with old Camp and Scout T-Shirts (Sew and No-Sew T-Shirt Bags)

If you’re like me, you’ve got dozens of camp and school t-shirts that are too small or too ugly to wear outside, right? Well, here are some fun ideas to help you recycle those old tees into something usable again!

This craft is easy to do and would be perfect for Mutual, Activity Days, Family Home Evening, or Scouts. These bags are very versatile and can be used for everything from groceries to gym shoes. We’ve created both no sew and easy sewing versions of these bags:

No-Sew T Shirt Bag

You’ll need a large mixing bowl, fabric scissors, ruler, pencil, and t-shirt for this project.

Step Two: Trace Around the Neck

Trace around the bowl with a pencil and cut out the neck of the t shirt.

Step Three: Remove the Sleeves

Cut off the sleeves of the t-shirt

Step Four: Remove the Hem

Cut off the hem of the shirt.

Step Five: Cut and Tie

Cut 1 inch slits along the bottom of the t shirt that are at least 1.5 inches long. Be sure to cut through the front and back of the shirt. Tie the fabric tightly using a square knot.
