poem or song details – One light shining in the darkness

Some time ago I heard a poem or song about “one light shining in the darkness” which eventually becomes many lights shining in the darkness.

I think it was based on Freedom in an Iron Curtain Country but not sure.

Is anyone able to help with the words?

I think you are remembering a song by Barry Mannilow…only it’s one “voice” singing in the darkness….then expands to many voices singing in the darkness. It might not work for your needs, but is still a really great song. Here are One Voice Lyrics:
