Music Leader Helps

Following are some ideas or links I’ve collected that might help music leaders in the Primary Program:

“My Primary President went through the 2005 Program Outline for sharing time, found all the songs and burned CD’s for the kids. A couple of the teachers and I plan on mailing or bringing over a copy of the CD and Xerox copies of the songs for our inactive kids.

“We thought it would be a great idea for the kids to hear the songs and maybe the parents would listen also.” -T. Hatch

Our last Primary music leader attached a balloon to the top of a posterboard, along with a needle on a string. (Think variation on the old thermometer song indicator — sing ’til the thermometer gets to the top, rememeber?) As the kids sang increasingly loudly, she’d move the needle closer and closer to the balloon until finally it popped the balloon. The kids loved it, and it really kept thier attention. They really wanted to learn the songs so that they could sing loudly and pop the balloon. – Jenny

Seems like I’ve also seen this done with a rocketship — the rocket shoots up according to how loudly the kids are singing. I bet it’d be cute to make a little missionary that had to get to the top of a hill, or a family to the temple. – Jenny

Another music leader kept a basket of the song titles from the presentation in a basket. She’d invite children that sang well to come up and choose a song from the basket. The children enjoyed singing every word so they could earn the chance to pick the next song. – Jenny
