Here is a description of the Camp Contract one sister writes up for her girls to sign. I really like the fact that the parents have to sign it, too — that way the girls and parents know what will happen if they break the rules.

    Quote:

It has several numbered items on it, regarding dress code, respecting other campers, including those not in our campsite, treating everyone with kindness and compassion, no gossiping or cliquing, no complaining or whining, the fact that it is not up to the leaders to babysit, but up to the girls to go and have a good time, no murmuring over camp chores, and last but not least, the fact that if any of the rules are broken, mom is going to get a call to come and pick her darling up because she will be invited to leave.

I have done this since I was a camp director, and I have never had to call anyone’s parents. We don’t have catfights, or unhappy, whiney girls, the worst it has been is to send someone back to her tent to put on her pajama bottoms because her shorts were too short. -Peg

I think I’d add a rule about no going ANYWHERE without a friend (not even potty) and that you have to tell your YW leaders where you’re heading at all times.

After hearing the story of the Boy Scouts that have been lost on camping trips, I might also add a rule like “if you’re lost STAY PUT. Let us come find you.” Girls could be provided with a whistle to blow if they become lost.

We had some problems with girls wanting to swap tents after they were assigned (randomly by a number drawn from a hat). Some even sneaked into their friends’ tents during the night. Tent-swapping could be listed as a no-no on the camp contract, too.

You may also want to add a “no skipping devotionals or talks” clause.

Anyone have any more ideas for camp rules?

Hi- I was wondering, what are the rules on bringing a non-member to girls' camp with you? Are they allowed to stay in your same year, even though they have never been to girls' camp before?

I am wondering if I can get a copy of this contract that you use please? We’ve had some issues and I’m looking for a contract like this to use this year. (I’m not good with wording things on my own.) ;-)

Looking for the official list of camp rules. It sounds like a great idea.
