Shawna W. submitted this updated version of the Young Women Values Pageant Skit for New Beginnings. She says :
- “Last year, I downloaded the Values Pageant to use for our ward’s New Beginnings program. I agree with you that it’s a classic. I remember my ward performing it when I was a Beehive! However, when I read through the script again, it seemed markedly outdated–so much so that I was unsure if my YW would like it.
“So I took a few liberties and tried to bring the script into the new millennium. I was pleased with the result. Attached, I’ve included just the main section of the script–the mock values and real values answers–figuring that individual wards can adapt the beginning and ending of the pageant themselves. In the end, we asked the Young Women to write their own “real values” talk, so that they would be speaking for themselves (not in character) about what each value means to them. (Their talks then replaced the “real values” speeches from the second half of the script).
Overall, it was a great success.”
