    Ensign Peak is where the saints first enetered the valley and there is a nice hike there. Also, a little more strenuous is Bells Canyon located just off Wasatch Boulevard, if you look carefully around the lower reservoir you can see rocks that have chisel marks in them. Watch for rattlesnakes, I have seen a few up there and I hiked it alot as a kid. The pioneers did quarry rocks for the SL temple out of this canyon as well as Little Cottonwood. There are also some beautiful waterfalls higher up although you need to know where they are off the main trail to find them as they are not marked. It is very steep and about 4 hours round trip to the first waterfall and back. :D Good luck!
