Melanie F. says, “I just used the clip art from your website to create this handout. The children in my primary class colored it and crossed out the things that are not good for your body. It [worked] great!” This handout would make a super easy FHE lesson for small children, too! 1 per page, 8.5 x 11 inches, black and white.

The note was written on blue paper with zigzags drawn around the corners, so even though Jeremy handed it to her, Melanie knew the note was from Rachel. Melanie glanced around. Reading time was over, and her classmates were putting away their books. Melanie knew how the note would start: “Dear Best Friend.” She smiled to herself. She and Rachel had been friends since second grade. “We’re still best friends,…

Explain that when a consumer purchases a new vehicle or appliance, the manufacturer provides instructions on the care and maintenance of the machine. Explain that the room is like a sheepfold and their teacher is their “shepherd.” If they will listen and follow their shepherd’s voice, they will learn a lot this year. Have each shepherd call out his/her class by each child’s name. Then have the children follow their shepherd along a path of “danger spots,” such…

The Lord gave me a temple to live within on earth. Once in Heaven I was spirit, but I left my home at birth. I’ll make my temple brighter; I’ll keep my spirit free. My body is the temple my Father gave to me. (Children’s Songbook, page 153.) This Primary song tells us that our bodies are temples that Heavenly Father has given us. The scriptures tell us this, too:…

Explain that the jar of clean water is our mind. Begin by putting one rock in. This could represent seeing one inappropriate movie or TV show (watch the dirt you couldn’t see on the rock before float to the bottom). Add another rock, representing one pornographic image. More dirt floats to the bottom. Another rock: a inappropriate joke. Another rock: a cuss word or two. Another rock: one alcoholic drink…

Ask for two volunteers from the class. Tell them that your plant is very thirsty and in need of a drink. Then give them the soda to water it with. My class was appalled by this, and it was a very effective way to show how different health choices affect our bodies. After giving it the soda, ask the other volunteer to give the plant the water.
