Father’s Day/pin The Tie On The Dad/who Is The Daddy – 6/16

Downloaded from: http://aprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/fathers-day-616.html For Father’s Day we will be playing a combination of ‘Pin the Tie on the Dad’ and ‘Who is the Daddy’. Each tie (they will be around the room on the walls) will have questions and a song on the back (see below).  Choose 1 Primary child to pick a tie and read the question on the back.  In Jr. Primary, the whole Primary will help answer the…

Week 3: Prophets Teach Me To Pay Tithing.

Downloaded from: http://ohwhatdoyoudoforsingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/week-3-prophets-teach-me-to-pay-tithing.html A darling idea for teaching this theme can be found here.  Why reinvent the wheel???  A PDF for a piggy bank is provided but if you do not want to make it, you can always use a real one.  Assign songs for practice to 9 quarters.  Invite a child to drop a quarter into the bank & then sing the corresponding song. Keep the tenth quarter out so…

Ask a child to read Malachi 3:10 as the other children listen for what the Lord promises us if we pay tithing. Explain that “open you the windows of heaven” refers to blessings we receive when we pay tithing.ENCOURAGING UNDERSTANDING (seeing…

Preparing For Baptism/bishop Interview Questions – 6/9

Downloaded from: http://aprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/preparing-for-baptism-62.html Update – total flop for Sr. Primary, I didn’t even try it in Jr.  Maybe it would have gone better, except the boys couldn’t stop talking about how creepy the drawing was.  If you try this, use a cartoon or a printed picture unless you are a good artist!! June is all about preparing for BAPTISM.  I thought it would be fun to discuss baptism/review baptismal covenants…

Father’s Day: Cut The Tie

Downloaded from: http://primarynotes29.blogspot.com/2013/05/fathers-day-cut-tie.html image sourceA classic Father’s Day activity is Cut The Tie. I’ve seen it done many time in various Primaries.  Invite the Bishop or the Bishopric Member over Primary to come in. Pre-plan that he will be wearing an old tie that he doesn’t care about, or one from the thrift shop.  Sing Cut off a piece of the tie (from the bottom up) – the size you…

Task Before You Ask

Downloaded from: http://primarynotes29.blogspot.com/2013/05/task-before-you-ask.html Cheryl K. on the Primary Chorister’s Facebook Group shared this very, very helpful classroom management tip: -> “Hands down, the BEST teaching advice I’ve ever been given is called, ‘Task before you ask.’ When you ask a question, give the kids something to do in response, or else they will all call out at once (because they all think you are talking to only them). This technique…

Double The Dice – Program Songs And Ways To Sing

Downloaded from: http://aprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/double-dice-program-songs-and-ways-to.html For our review on 5/26, I am doubling the dice.  I printed a set of cards with the names of program songs for the year and will attach them to one of my “Ways to Sing” dice.  We’ll have the kids take turn rolling both a song and a way to sing.  Easy and definitely reuseable!

Build-A-Mother

Downloaded from: http://ohwhatdoyoudoforsingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/build-mother.html This idea is courtesy of www.iheartprimarymusic.blogspot.com.  I drew my own.  Have the children pick pieces and assemble the mother.  For each piece, read the poem and sing a song.  Legs/Feet:  Her feet are busy all day long, with loving tasks to make me strong.  They lead me in the righteous way and guide me if I go astray.Knees:  Whether playing a game or scrubbing the floors, her knees bend willingly…

Holding Hands Around The World: Mail Swap

Downloaded from: http://primarynotes29.blogspot.com/2013/05/holding-hands-around-world-mail-swap.html I decided to incorporate a mail swap when we learned the song Holding Hands Around the World. I found two Primaries in Italy and Japan to do our mail swap with (our Utah Ward was big enough to split with two other Wards). Finding a Ward turned out to be trickier than I thought, but I pulled it off. So, if you want to do this be sure…

Second Mother’s Day Idea

Downloaded from: http://aprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/second-mothers-day-idea.html Update – in the end I got enough responses to use my original idea and, especially with the blow dryer box, it was really fun!!  So . . . you win some you lose some.  Time to simplify.  I have only gotten a few responses back on my “Mother’s Day Guess Who”, so time to come up with a BACKUP PLAN in case I can’t get enough…

President Monson ‘favorite Things’ Cards – To Be Used Throughout The Year

Downloaded from: http://aprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/05/president-monson-favorite-things-cards.html I mentioned in my post about President Monson that I found a great link with interesting facts about him and beautiful pictures.  There are far too many to use today, or even this month, so I have decided to incorporate a “President Monson’s Favorite Things” bit throughout the year.  Every now and then I will put one or two of these laminated cards under the kids’ chairs,…
