Here is the general conference review quiz I made during the conference sessions I was able to attend this April. (There’s no first session questions due to a family emergency–sorry.) People have used this quiz in the past for family home evening and Seminary reviews. Versions available below with and without answers. Enjoy! — Update: I caught a couple of errors when I gave the quiz today in Seminary. Fixed…

Ocassionally I get a comment or email from a teacher lamenting that I’m behind them on the lesson schedule. It may be rough for the three or four people that read this blog, but for me, it’s fantastic. I get to see everyone else’s ideas before I need to give my lesson. But last year and this, I start to catch up with other teachers in March — just in…

OAKS: “As a General Authority, it is my responsibility to preach general principles. When I do, I don’t try to define all the exceptions. There are exceptions to some rules. For example, we believe the commandment is not violated by killing pursuant to a lawful order in an armed conflict. But don’t ask me to give an opinion on your exception. I only teach…

Downloaded from: http://ohwhatdoyoudoforsingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/03/jesus-christ-is-our-savior-week-2.html This week’s sharing time focuses specifically on the Atonement & Crucifixion. I have done the following activity several times & it ALWAYS invites the spirit. I am sure many of you have seen this before, but I feel that the best way to teach is often through repetition. This activity will be spread over two weeks…the first week focuses on the Atonement & Crucifixion while the second…

Downloaded from: http://ocdprimarychorister.blogspot.com/2013/03/note-on-using-cartoon-pictures-of-christ.html There has been a lot of discussion lately about whether or not we are allowed to use cartoon pictures of Christ in teaching Primary. I do not want this post to turn into an argument, so please read it with the understanding that I’m simply sharing my ideas- not trying to define doctrine :). If you feel like you have to defend your use of my artwork,…

Downloaded from: http://seminaryatsixam.blogspot.com/2013/03/scripture-mastery-cards.html I love interacting with other Seminary Teachers. This morning I attended our monthly Inservice Training and I always leave with new energy and so many great ideas from other teachers. Sometimes I grumble about giving up a Saturday morning for this meeting, but I quickly repent when I attend and feel the spirit as we are instructed in this most important work of teaching the gospel to…

Downloaded from: http://afprimarysingingtime.blogspot.com/2013/02/q-using-singing-time-wisely.html Q:I’ve just been called to be the chorister and am having a hard time with structuring singing time. When do you do what? What elements does a successful singing time include? Should you do a game every time? How much time should I spend on a new song each week? A: Well, this is a very good question (series of questions, actually)! This will be kind of…

This was a short week due to the President’s day holiday, but we were able to do 8 chapters. From now on the material is going to go faster and faster. So far I don’t think that we are having any problems keeping up on the reading. I did some averaging last week, and our daily reading is 96%. That means that on an average day, 15.36 out of 16…

I used this object lesson to teach about hypocrisy to my Seminary class. First, I printed chewing gum inserts on card stock. Each insert was 140mm x 18mm and fit inside a Juicy Fruit wrapper. On each was written the following references and words: “Thou Whited Wall” Acts 23:3 and “Full of Dead Men’s Bones” Matthew 23:27. After cutting them out, I put the “fake” gum in the center section…

After we discussed what happened in Acts 8-9, they then quietly picked out a verse or verses that meant something to them. Then they came up to the front of the class, read the verse, explained it, told why they chose it, and how to apply it to our lives. Then they handed their stick back to me….
