Here’s what Lisa says about Modesty Matters:
Our stake produced a 45 minute play titled “Modesty Matters.” It features four scenes from Fairy Tales. The heroine of each tale learns a lesson about modesty while a King and Magic Mirror observe and narrate the play. The short musical numbers support the lessons learned. For example, Snow White receives a strapless prom dress instead of the poisoned apple, but she surprises the audience by emerging with a cute little jacket over the dress, and the song accompanying the scene goes like this: (to the tune of “Be Your Best” from Beauty and the Beast) Look your best! Look your best! Put your prom dress to the test! Put a jacket ’round your shoulders POOF! You have a modest dress!”
Topics covered include short shirt solutions, remembering your royal heritage, dealing with immodest clothing gifts, swimwear, the perils of too much focus on “looks,” preparing for the temple, the “For the Strength of Youth guidelines.”
