We do a website of the month in our RS newsletter (right now we’re focusing on the websites owned by the church), but I thought I’d start a list of other types of websites that might be safely included in a newsletter, along with times that they might be used:

    September, summer, or holiday season:
http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com/ – Enter the make and model of your vehicle, the major cities you’ll be travelling to, and the AAA fuel cost calculator will estimate your fuel costs based on the average price of a gallon of gasoline in each region of the country.

    Any Time of Year:
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/ – Enter your information at this secure website to stop receiving those “pre-approved” credit card offers in your mail. This one entry removes you from the lists at all four major credit reporting agencies for your choice of 5 years or permanently. You can also do this by telephone at 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688).

    March/April:
http://www.irs.gov/ – US Income tax information, including a simple form that can tell you how long it will be until your refund is deposited. You can also file your taxes for free electronically here.

    November:
http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Po … ct_Sheets/ – from the USDA website has information on turkey preparation and storage safety. Answers questions like “Is Pink Turkey Meat Safe?” and has information on alternate cooking methods including grilling and fying. See also http://www.eatturkey.com/ for recipes and more information on turkeys.
