Are you aware of anyone who has reproducable HR LDS art? I have noticed that lots of art printed in the church magazines indicates that it is ok to copy and wondered if anyone knows where the original digital files are or has started making good HR scans of them. I don’t want to go through the work of creating my own database of the artwork included in the magazines if the files are already available.
Depends on what you’re looking for. Here are the sources I know of for hi-res LDS pix online:
Hi-res temple pictures – even includes temples that have been announced but not finished.
Hi Res Gospel Art Picture Kit images – doesn’t have all the GAK images, but has those that are okay for reproducing
Hi res photos of LDS Leaders, historical pictures, gospel in action shots, etc. – make sure only the “Photos” box is checked, and then type in your search terms. These aren’t terribly well indexed, so general search terms are best, like “Primary” or “Hinckley”.
lds.about.com – has a large list of clipart from Church magazines, but they’re not hi-res.
All of this art work is okay for use at home or church (AFAIK). You can’t use the images to make projects that you’ll sell. You also can’t use the images on a website.
