This week we are wrapping up the epistles prior to our 3 week study of Revelation. We got a little nerdy this week…. 2 Peter 1-3 For this class, I had students open up their scriptures to 1 Peter 1:2-10 and write a mathematical equation for the verses. Theirs was even better than mine — somehow I had ignored the word multiplied. Turned out pretty well. As a group we…

Downloaded from: http://seminaryatsixam.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-infinite-atonement.html I am the first to support and understand the need to use CES Curriculum and support when teaching Seminary. When preparing Seminary lessons, I am careful to use stories, quotes, and examples straight from the teachings of ancient and modern day Prophets and Apostles. With that in mind, I highly recommend this book, The Infinite Atonement, by Tad R Callister to Seminary, Institute, and all teachers and students…

We covered the book of Hebrews in 4 lessons, all in one week. It felt fast, and it was. Hebrews 1-2 I am trying to do better with scripture mastery, and so I am working on getting the kids to learn the references and key phrases. Today I put up the four references from Corinithians on the board and asked the kids for the topics they address. I asked “How…

Today another Seminary teacher came to observe my classroom (more on that later), and she mentioned something that the kids had talked about in class yesterday: the scripture mastery passages have changed! I decided to take a quick look this afternoon before the kids get home to see what changes have been made. There are 8 changes to the Book of Mormon scripture mastery list as best I can tell….

I used this document during our discussion of Hebrews 11, however, the quotes are great for any lesson on faith. ___________________ Faith “I recognize two kinds of faith. The first is the kind which is apparent in the world. It is the common denominator of most everything that goes on. It is the thing that lets us exist. It is the thing that gives us some hope of getting…

Downloaded from: http://ldsywideasandactivities.blogspot.com/2013/01/moroni.html Recently, I was surprised to learn that many of the girls didn’t realize that Captain Moroni (famous military leader who raised the Title of Liberty) and Moroni (the last righteous Nephite, last of the Nephite Prophets, who completed hid the plates and 1,400 years later appeared to Joseph Smith to teach him and later show him the location of the plates) are not the same person. Last week was spring break — it was kind of an unplanned whirlwind of activity, and I didn’t get the asparagus bed in or as much done on the website as I hoped. ‘Twas always thus, I suppose. We got in the car to drive to the church building we’ve been moved to Sunday, when someone suggested that we go to Disney World. So we did. I can see a…

Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/day-2-april-81-nephi-4-6-or-pages-7-12-the-importance-of-scripture/ Reblogged from The Book of Mormon Translation Challenge: 1 Nephi 4-6 is an illustration of the importance of scripture in our lives. Their value is demonstrated as several lives are “on the line” for the Plates of Brass. It is obvious that the Lord is trying to help us understand the great worth of the word […]
