Hello I have a question of what Brigham Youngs favorite candy was does anyone know?

I would love to have ideas on how to make the women in Primary and Young Women feel a part of RS. I was out of RS for a year and felt almost antagonistic towards RS because I felt so isolated. The presidency brought announcements into my Primary class, interrupting my class, so that wasn’t helpful. We have invited the auxiliary secretaries into RS for announcements, as well as having printed announcements in the folders that go around to everyone. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks! -
Looking for the We believe script. Can you email it?

October 1, 2011 at 12:36 pm in reply to: What is the church’s view & understanding about cremation for burial after death …?? #243645
Here is the statement found in Handbook 2: Administering in the Church found at: http://lds.org/handbook/handbook-2-administering-the-church/selected-church-policies?lang=eng&query=Burial#21.3 “Cremation
The Church does not normally encourage cremation. The family of the deceased must decide whether the body should be cremated, taking into account any laws governing burial or cremation. In some countries, the law requires cremation.
Where possible, the body of a deceased member who has been endowed should be dressed in temple clothing when it is cremated. A funeral service may be held (see 18.6).”
Hope this helps

I like the refrence from Jenny and I believe that is as close to doctrine on the matter as you will get. I also looked up info in the Encyclopedia of Mormonism and it was pretty similar. I think cremation is fine under certain circumstances if a burrial is something that is not possible or would cause great financial or other distress on those living. I have not found any refrences anywhere to it being a sin or against Church policy. But we really are encouranged to bury our dead loved ones for multiple reasons including how symbolic it is. I also think it is interesting how in the Church we dedicate graves by the power of the priesthood just like we dedicate homes and churches and temples. I think that says something about how special a person’s resting place is until the resurrection. With cremation, most people do not dedicate a grave or place for the deceased but many people throw their ashes into an undedicated place. I think anyone who is looking into that may want to research the reasons we dedicate graves. I have also heard individuals speak of what it will be like to come forth in the resurrection from the graves surrounded by loved ones who were burried nearby. And how our spirits may wait near our bodies as we anticipate our resurrection and how wonderful it will be to gather with our family by our graves and come forth so close together. I am not sure how it will be during those moments prior to the resurrection if someone’s ashes are tossed and spread on the wind, but I wonder if they could have the same experience as those who were burried by loved ones. But all in all, it probably doesn’t matter that much. All will be resurrected no matter how they died or were commemorated. You have to prayerfully decide what would be best for living family and friends as well as the wishes of the deceased person and try to do what will benefit those it matters to the most.

What type of prophecy do you mean? What specifically have you heard? I may be able to help you if you can be more specific.

just modify it as the spirit guides you. talk with her mother/caretaker and really understand what she can and cannot do and where to push her and where to hold her hand and guide her. I have a son that is severely dyslexic and has some processing and retrieval issues…so for scouts and such they allow him to have his book to help remember things he should have memorized.

If you look at the online version of the Personal Progress
https://lds.org/young-women/personal-progress?lang=eng
there is an option to choose from for Special Needs. I use this with my own Aspergers daughter. She can do most of the experiences but some of them are going to be too hard for her and I don’t want her to lose interest or love of PP. -
There are a few stores in SLC that used to have them. Provo Craft, Bakers Cash has Boise,Bountiful, Idaho Falls, Jordan R. Logan,Provo, San Diego, Vernal and Carry, Cotton Press.com has terra cotta molds for LA, Nauvoo, Protland and SLC.

We have a few special needs girls in our program. We modified the program to only the required experiences and half of the projects. We or their parents have helped them with the reading and journal writing. For the journal we’ve even had them do pictures instead of words, or cutting out pictures and making a collage.

I think the best way to keep Primary and YW sisters informed and involved in RS is to have RS Primary Angels. These are sisters who attend RS regularly and every Sunday call an assigned Primary Sister or YW sister to give them a brief overview of the lesson and relay announcements. The lesson info is brief, just the main idea and direction the discussion took the lesson, just the highlights. Most important is announcements, sign-ups, and asking the teachers to provide enough hand-outs so the Primary and YW sisters can have one.

Is this it? I found it on “ShabbyBlogs.com”.
After you are baptized today, you will be confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a very special gift. There are different things that can remind you of the things that the Holy Ghost can do for you.
A MOUTH can remind you that the Holy Ghost speaks in a still small voice.
An EAR can remind you to listen to the Holy Ghost because he will guide you and help you to choose the right.
The Holy Ghost is like a WARM BLANKET because he can comfort you. The Holy Ghost is sometimes called the comforter. He can bring you strength and comfort when you need to make hard decisions in your life or when you are sad or lonely.
The BOOK OF MORMON can remind you that the Holy Ghost always speaks the truth. When you study and pray about the Book of Mormon, Heavenly Father can let you know through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true.
A BOOK can remind you that the Holy Ghost is a teacher. The Holy Ghost can help you understand the scriptures and the teachings of our Prophets and Leaders. It can also help you learn at church, school and home.
The Holy Ghost will light your way like a CANDLE and help you walk along the righteous path that leads back to our Heavenly Father.
The HEART can remind you that sometimes you won’t hear the Holy Ghost, but you will feel a warm feeling in your heart. The heart can also remind you that because Heavenly Father and Jesus love you, they have given you the very special gift of the Holy Ghost to help you to return to live with them someday.
It is my prayer that each of you will try your best to be worthy to have the Holy Ghost with you all the time and that you will listen to the Holy Ghost.
