{Primary} June 2015 Monthly Theme Poster

Can you believe it’s almost June!?! This year is flying by and I’m wanting it to slow down a little.

Today I am sharing the monthly theme poster for June.
June’s theme is: The Holy Ghost Testifies of the Truth of All Things.
I decided to use some clip art from the LDS Children’s Songbook. You can find a bunch of great clip art to use on LDS.org, HERE.
Here’s what this month’s poster looks like:

Just click the link below to print the poster out. I hope you enjoy this month’s poster.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

How to Write a Primary Program

I’ve been in Primary for almost 15 years! Sure, there were a few breaks for Young Women’s, so my total time in Primary is probably more like 12 years, but, you know. That’s just a lot of years in Primary. And a lot of years of working on Primary programs–the sacrament meeting when the Primary shares […]

Primary Schedule Poster

I made this little poster at the beginning of the year to put up by the clocks in our Primary room. I don’t know why but I can *never* remember when we’re supposed to start and finish the different sections of Primary. It’s super handy to be able to glance up at this poster to […]

Standard Works Scripture Reading Charts

As the summer is approaching I’ve been thinking about goals. One goal of mine is to read the entire Old Testament over the summer. It’s a pretty lofty aspiration, but if I’m focused and organized it’s certainly achievable.

I recently shared my Book of Mormon reading chart, to overwhelming response, and so I got started creating reading charts for all the other standard works. Of course, with 39 books in the Old Testament, the circular design I used would be quite a bit more complicated (though I may have found a way around that—it might just take a while).

Instead I went with a fairly simple design with rows of bubbles. They’re designed the be fairly easy on the eyes, with a clear font and fun colors.

In total there are 6 different charts. Book of Mormon & Doctrine and Covenants, and two each for the Old and New Testament. The first set of Testaments also includes portions of the Pearl of Great Price which are considered extensions of these records. Because of this I didn’t create a Pearl of Great Price chart, but if there’s interest I might consider making one.

The charts come in one .zip file containing 6 PDFs.

Photo Scavenger Hunt – upgrade!

THIS WEEK WE HAD A COMBINED YM/YW ACTIVITY THAT I PLANNED BECAUSE WE ARE BETWEEN CLASS PRESIDENCIES RIGHT NOW. THIS IS AN EASY ONE TO THROW TOGETHER AT THE LAST-MINUTE BECAUSE THERE ISN’T MUCH PREP, ITS NO-COST, AND IF YOU HAVE THE FLU (LIKE I DO) YOU WON’T HAVE TO DO MUCH :)

WE DID A PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT (WE HAVE DONE SOMETHING SIMILAR IN THE PAST, BUT I UPGRADED US TO A LONGER & MORE DIFFICULT LIST, AND ALSO PROVIDED A LIST OF QUESTIONS THAT COULD BE ANSWERED FOR BONUS POINTS. THIS MADE THE ACTIVITY LAST ABOUT AN HOUR)

I ASSIGNED OUT THE TEAMS AFTER EVERYONE ARRIVED. I TRIED TO MAKE EACH TEAM HAVE NO MORE THAN 4 OR 5 PEOPLE (HARDER TO GET 10 PEOPLE IN A SELFIE). I ALSO MADE SURE EACH TEAM HAD AT LEAST ONE YW AND ONE YM (THIS IS HELPFUL FOR SOME OF THE BONUS QUESTIONS). FINALLY, I MADE SURE THAT EACH TEAM HAD A PHONE THAT THEY COULD USE TO TAKE PHOTOS. YOU ONLY NEED 1 PHONE PER TEAM.

THE ONLY PREP WORK YOU MIGHT NEED TO DO IS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING ON THE LIST IS AVAILABLE AT YOUR CHURCH BUILDING. WE HAVE A FAKE PLANT WITH PINK ROSES IN OUR FOYER, BUT MOST BUILDINGS PROBABLY WON’T. AND SOME THINGS AREN’T TOTALLY PREDICTABLE (LIKE, OUR KIDS COULDN’T FIND A POLITICAL BUMPER STICKER, THOUGH THERE IS USUALLY SOMEONE WITH AT LEAST 1 OF THEM IN THE PARKING LOT).

HERE IS THE PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT (I GAVE EACH TEAM A COPY):

PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT

AS A TEAM, LOCATE AND PHOTOGRAPH AS MANY OF THESE ITEMS AS YOU CAN. ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST BE IN EVERY PHOTO. THE WINNING TEAM IS THE TEAM WHO GETS THE MOST OVERALL POINTS, NOT THE TEAM WHO FINISHES FIRST.
YOU CAN TAKE PHOTOS IN ANY ORDER.
SORRY, BUT ANY PHOTOS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE RULES WILL NOT COUNT!

RULES:
#1- EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM MUST BE IN EVERY SINGLE PHOTO.

#2- EACH ITEM MUST HAVE ITS OWN PHOTO (IE, A PHOTO WITH A PINK ROSE & A LION DOESN’T COUNT 2X)

#3- PLEASE DON’T DISTURB ANY CLASS, MEETING, OR ACTIVITY- THIS INCLUDES KNOCKING ON THE BISHOP’S DOOR, WHICH IS A “NO-NO”!  :)

#4- USING PICTURES OR PAINTINGS OF THINGS THAT ARE ALREADY HANGING IN THE CHURCH FOR YOUR PHOTOS IS OK. USING PHOTOS FROM THE INTERNET OR SAVED TO YOUR PHONE DO NOT COUNT (IE, USING A PHOTO OF A MISSIONARY FROM FACEBOOK DOES NOT COUNT)

TAKE A PHOTO OF YOUR ENTIRE TEAM WITH:

  • SOMETHING WITH WHEELS
  • A HUMAN PYRAMID (AT LEAST 3 PEOPLE FROM YOUR TEAM IN THE PYRAMID)
  • PAINTING OF SOMEONE BEING BAPTIZED
  • SOMETHING GLITTERY

  • YOUR TEAM MEMBERS SPELLING OUT Y M C A (WITH THEIR BODIES) IN AN EMPTY CLASSROOM

IN ADDITION TO THE PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT, THE TEAMS COULD ALSO OPT TO EARN BONUS POINTS BY ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS AS A TEAM (ON A SHEET THAT I HANDED THEM IF THEY WANTED IT):

13 Articles of Taste

This week I’m doing a “mop-up” week–there are a handful of updates and tweaks that have been requested or that I’ve been thinking about that I just haven’t made time to get finished up. Today I’m sharing a blank Articles of Taste sheet that could easily be used for a family. Instead of the title […]
