Cootie Catcher Thank You printable

Ever since I created a Cootie Catcher for Conference, I keep returning to this format! It’s so cute. It was easy to convert into a “Thank You” cootie catcher. It’s meant to be printed in full color. Regular weight paper works best because you’ll need to have several folds. There are instructions on the bottom […]

Mandala Thank You card

The next Thank You card has a cool mandala design coupled with the definition of gratitude. For some reason this seems like a better fit for kids who are a bit older. I think perhaps they would enjoy the more intricate and abstract coloring. This one is bigger, designed to be printed on a full […]

Thankasaurus Rex printable card

Today continues a week of easy-to-print Thank You cards here at The Mormon Home. Feeling super grateful at the end of the school year for all the help we had to get to this point! This one is the Thankasaurus Rex card, perfect for little ones from preschool through 2nd grade. My little Jonah will […]

MAGIC ON THE SIDEWALK

I am really excited! Tomorrow I get to help my aunt do some drawing at the Bountiful City “MAGIC ON THE SIDEWALK” chalk art festival.  I’ve never done chalk art outside of my own driveway.  I think it will be super fun.  If you’re in the…

{Sharing Time} The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ

Encourage understanding: Read together the title of the Book of Mormon from the title page. Read the following scriptures aloud, and have the children raise their hands when they hear other names of the Savior:2 Nephi 19:6Alma 5:383 Nephi 5:26. As the children identify the titles, write them on the board. Choose several titles, and explain how the Savior fulfills those roles.

Encourage application: Give each child a bookmark with the sentence “The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ” written on it. Invite them to decorate the bookmark and use it in their scriptures. Consider having several children report on their goal to establish a habit of regular scripture study (see January, week 2). You could invite them to share their feelings about scripture passages they have read.

The Old Testament tells us about Jesus Christ before He came to live on earth. He was called Jehovah. The Old Testament tells about people who followed Jehovah. The New Testament is the book of scripture that tells us about Jesus’s life on earth. His disciples wrote about His life and His teachings.

The Book of Mormon also teaches about Jesus Christ and people who followed Him. The Book of Mormon begins in Jerusalem during the time of the Old Testament, about 600 years before Jesus was born. It tells how the prophet Lehi and his family left Jerusalem and were led to a promised land, far across the ocean in the New World. Prophets in the Book of Mormon taught that Jesus would come to The Book of Mormon Teaches of Jesus Christ earth. They also taught that repenting and following Jesus Christ would bring happiness. After Jesus was crucified and resurrected in Jerusalem, He visited the New World to teach the people. He taught about baptism, the sacrament, and how to love others. He organized a church with twelve Apostles. He gathered the children and blessed them, just as He had in the New Testament. Like the prophets in the Bible, Book of Mormon prophets shared their testimonies of Jesus Christ. (source)

Many people in the world today believe that when Jesus was on the earth, He was only with the people in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon teaches us that Jesus also visited the people of Americas.
Both the Book of Mormon and the Bible teach and testify of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon doesn’t replace the Bible.

Sharing Time:

Right click and save the picture above and print, as you are talking about the italicized from above show the picture when you get to the Book of Mormon part.
For the older kids: Bring in highlighters and have the kids come up and using the highlighters, highlight the names of Jesus (as suggested in the outline)
I found 9 in the scriptures:
The Good Shepherd
Counselor
The Everlasting Father
The Lord
Mighty God
Prince of Peace
Redeemer
Son of God
Wonderful
Another way you could use both the scriptures and the picture squares is by having a “race”. Put up the scriptures onto the board. Have all the squares on a table by the scriptures. And race to see who can find the names the quickest.
For the younger kids: Print out 2 of each of the pages with the pictures of Jesus.  (Each are a representing the different names from the scriptures in the outline) You could also cut the picture squares in half and play a matching halves game.
