Old Testament Overview

At the beginning of the school year, it is good to give your students an overview of storyline of the Old Testament.  This is to help them see the big picture and where they are at any particular point in the year.  Attached is a graphic that symbolizes all the biggest events.  The PowerPoint version has a key with it and one slide that numbers them.  I have seen some teachers put something like this up with poster paper.  You can also just print a copy for each student […]

Seminary Classroom Visuals

The attachment has some visuals you may want to use in your classroom. I included the PowerPoint below and there is a bit of explanation with each one below the PowerPoint page. There are about twenty 8.5 by 11 visuals.  Hope you find them useful.  Some of these you may want to put up in your classroom to remind your class of  the central ideas.  Take a look and see what works for you. I also included the PDF in case you don’t have PPTX.  […]

A Technology Help for Scripture Mastery

As I have been coordinating early morning seminary teachers, I have been hesitant to share many teaching helps that call for technology like PowerPoint presentations, because few teachers have projectors or the time to set up a lot of things before class.  I don’t want to add another burden or frustration. But in the past couple of years, I have noticed a good number of teachers that will hook up their tablets or smartphones to the Ward library’s flat screen […]

Updated Scripture Mastery Key Words

Recently I had sent Scripture Mastery mnemonics to help your students learn the key words to references. I discovered that I made a couple mistakes by accidently using some of the old key words, instead of the updated ones for 2015.  So I have made the changes.  This way, the key words align with the new SM Bookmarks and the SM Cards.  So here is the link to post where the change has been made. http://nwseminaryshare.weebly.com/home/old-testament-sm-mnemonics […]

The Old Testament Bookshelf

This graphic can be used in a few ways.  It can be used for helping your class learn the Old Testament books in order. Try using the song on page 114 of the Children’s Songbook to help with that.           It also can be used to show the class how the Old Testament books are grouped and how they are not in chronological order.  Have your students group the books in their own scriptures on the page just before Genesis 1. The Hebrew words are what Jew […]

“5-Day-A Week” Scripture Mastery Helps

Most Seminary Teachers know they need to do Scripture Mastery, but many don’t have any ideas how to do this consistently, and effectively.   These worksheets are a great start.       To help your students truly learn the Scripture Mastery scriptures, it is best that you spend a few minutes each day learning them. Most teachers have found that it is best to spotlight one Mastery passage a week.  This worksheet will help you know what to do each da […]

Old Testament Required Reading Bookmark

If you thought getting your students to read the Doctrine and Covenants was challenging, did you know that If you took the page count of the Book of Mormon, D&C and New Testament combined, the Old Testament would STILL have more pages?  Luckily your students will only be required to read selected chapters from the Old Testament. Really, it is the best of the best parts of the Old Testament.  It will make the page count about the same size as the Book of Mormon or New Testament. &n […]
