Activity: New Years Resolutions
As people all over the world make New Years Resolutions, you might want to make some with your Primary. Make and draw strips with the following resolutions and/or others you might think of. As the children draw a strip from the hat, read the resolution and see if they can think of one or more songs that relate. My suggestions are written below. At the end of Singing Time, ask the children to choose two or three of these resolutions to adopt as a group for 2015.
Primary 3. Lesson 1
Heavenly Father knew when He sent us to earth that we would need to become accountable for our choices. Being accountable helps us learn to make wise choices. Heavenly Father knew that we would not always choose the right. He and Jesus Christ have provided a way for us to correct our mistakes so that we can be happy here on earth and one day return to live with Them forever. The way is repentance.
When we repent, we accept responsibility for our wrong choices, feel sorry, ask forgiveness, and correct our wrongs. Then we try very hard to not repeat that sin.
Heavenly Father has given us commandments to help us to be happy. He has promised us blessings—happy consequences—if we obey. If we choose to break the commandments of God, then we must suffer the consequences. This includes not receiving the blessings that come from keeping the commandments.
If you would like some games to go along, included in this packet is a good/bad decision making that you put on the wall with pictures and throw sticky darts at the pictures. This is from Primary 2 manual lesson, Dare to Choose the Right. Includes other activities as well.
