I show love for Jesus Christ when I keep the commandments
Spencer W. Kimball was a prophet. He wrote a special letter to children in 1979 about how we can show we love Jesus Christ by keeping the commandments. This is what he wrote: Dear Boys and Girls, Each one of you is special in our sight, and we know you are precious to our Heavenly Father and to His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. How fortunate you are to belong to…

Keep the Commandments Scavenger Hunt
Sing “Keep the Commandments” (CS, pp. 146–147). Talk about the importance of knowing what the commandments are so that we can keep them. Faith (This is more for primary aged children than youth.)
I set my objects on a table and tell the youth that I need a volunteer, one that will have faith in my instructions. I ask that the volunteer must be sure to follow my instructions explicitly and is not allowed to talk or to show emotion during the entire duration of the task at hand. I then remind the volunteer of their commitment & faith and ask them to…

Recipe for Success
As you start out the lesson let the girls know that you prepared cookies for them and pass them out. Pass out the second batch of cookies, the ones in which you did not measure the ingredients. See if you get any reactions. If they are too polite to say anything you can let them know that there is something unusual about these cookies. After they point it out say…

We are all together in the top of the hourglass, and we go down the hourglass we may feel like we are being restricted and squeezed. People are telling us what to do, how to act, how to dress, what time to be home, etc. But if we decide not to follow the…

What Goes In, Doesn’t Come Out
Teach that everything you see, hear, and eat affects how we act. Talk about how each item will affect the doll as you place the items in her head. Bad pictures teach us that bad things are acceptable. Bad music might make us angry. Cigarettes can hurt the bodies Heavenly Father gave us and enslave us, etc. Dump out the bad stuff from Raggedy Ann’s head. Allow the class to…
