This cute FHE idea was submitted by Jill B. It’s a good idea and would work for children of many different ages. She says, “I used this as a FHE with my children to encourage loving each other and a spirit of cooperation.
“We discussed the ‘love one another’ scripture, talked about how the Savior loved even those who tried to trick him and persecute him, and then talked about ways we could serve each other in our own home. After the children discussed ways they could help, each one drew a name from a bowl. They were to keep it secret until next week. During the week they were to find little ways to serve each the person whose name they had drawn (put away shoes, clear others dishes, make bed, etc.) and leave one of the little cards where they had done their service (in the person’s shoe in the closet, at their place at the table that had been cleared, etc.) so the other person would realize that they had been served (and to make it more fun, too!). Each child was given a little ziploc bag with 7 of the cards and was encouraged to do at least one act of service for that person each day. I let our three year old draw a name also and helped her do things for her person. Simple, fun and helps create a spirit of awareness when one sibling has to treat the other one special and look for opportunities to serve.”
