in the handbook under sharing time it says that 15 mins is for the gospel instruction and 20 mins for singing .
Does that mean that all the children aged from 3 up to 11 are all together for the whole time or could you have the ctr’s having the gospel instruction while the valiants are doing singing and then after 20 mins each they change over so the ctr’s are having gospel instuction and the valiants singing time .Thanks

I have the music from The Children’s Friend-xeroxed copy. The lyrics were written by Jane Cowan and the music by William Gibbs in July 1974. I remember teaching this during our nation’s bicentennial and still do so whenever I get to teach Primary music! If anyone is interested, let me know and I’ll email you a scanned copy :-)

I do remember the story, but cannot remember the music. If you have any info, I would love it. I tell the story to my grandchildren. Would love the music also.

You should talk to your Stake Leader concerning your frustrations – or the Priesthood member of the Bishopric that is over you! They should handle the situation.

I was wondering what you decided to do on this topic as this is what our enrichment meeting is about as well. Thanks for any input you may have.

Another option is to go to their webpage & contact the production company & ask for permission. They may grant it. I was a cub scout leader when “Down and Derby” came out. Their production company granted permissions, with a couple conditions – they wanted to know where it was going to be shown, how many were going to view it & they wanted it promoted as being for sale at your local *insert stores here* – you don’t have to do big advertisement, just mention it. I wonder if the production company for 17 Miracles has anything similar…

I hope things are going much better in your Primary by now. I would talk with your Bishopric counselor over the Primary and have him be the one to talk with your president and counselor. It should come from him after you explain and show him the handbook. It could also be brought up to your Stake Primary Presidency and they could be of assistance in training them about the new changes. They should actually be keeping in touch with the ward Primaries and updating them on any changes that happen. We do that in our stake. We each take turns emailing our presidencies once a month on upcoming events or things we think they should know. I hope it all works out.

Hi, I understand your frustration. I would talk to the Bishopric counselor that oversees our primary and let him know about my concerns. Also I’d pray(even do a special fasting if you feel like) for them to open their minds and their hearts to new teachings and to follow the manual. :)

I am a new YW Pres with very little YW experience. I heard from a friend that they had GREAT success with visiting every YW individually and it really gave a great boost to their PP. In our YW, the Laurels are losing interest. What we have planned is this: The member of presidency over each group, plus the advisor, is going to visit each YW individually, explain the reason for PP, and encourage her. Then the mother also gets a PP booklet, the encouragement to do it along with her daughter, a letter showing the progress of her daughter, and a card outlining “10 Easy Ways to Help Your Daughter With Personal Progress”. As a Presidency and Advisors, we are encouraged to do it as well and we are going to let the girls record our progress in class. We are also going to have a fair number of Activity Nights where we split the girls by age, and each age group will have activities more specific to their interests—so we don’t “lose” the Laurels with activities that are “beneath” them, or the Beehives to activities that are “above” them.
