Jana M. shared this set of files several years ago, and I found them while going back over some older emails.  They are several scriptures set to music. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 – August001.pdf D&C 133:37 – September002.pdf James 1:5 – October001.pdf Matthew 22:37 – November.pdf Matthew 16:27 – December.pdf

I made this handout to help out in my teaching of Revelation chapters 1-7.  I’m hoping it will help answer student questions that may come up.  This handout is geared for teenagers, and all the sources are LDS. ——————– Revelation 1 Revelation 1:13 – One like unto the Son of Man This is Christ. The Book of Revelation Made Easier by David J. Ridges says this phrase was used to…

James 1-2 I decided to split James into two themes: on the first day, I focused on the scripture masteries, and on the second, we did a review type lesson.  This worked pretty well. We spent a few minutes doing our scripture sort.  Then I gave an introduction to James, based on at least some of the reading. I kept feeling that I needed to leave out an account of his…

I used this To Do List with the idea from the Seminary Lesson manual when teaching about the doers of the word.  After reading James 1:22-25, students were given several minutes to look over James 1-5 and to write down ways they can be doers of the word. The quote is from For the Strength of Youth (2012 version).

At what point in the scripture block did the Spirit touch you and whisper to you that something you read was true? Maybe a particular part was something with which you have already had experience. Bear testimony of it during class, and invite students to do the same. Look For: Be aware of your feelings as you read. What verses touch you? Look for phrases that speak to you. Example:…

It’s getting easier to get up for Seminary now that the days are getting longer again. It’s such a relief to send the kids out in actual sunlight instead of in the dark like we did during December and the start of January. They still arrive in the dark, but sunrise is just 30 minutes away, and so the sky is lighter and it doesn’t seem so awful. If only…

Do you know the name of the person who organized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; established a bank, a newspaper, and a printing office; supervised the building of the Church’s first temple; initiated extensive missionary work; made a translation of the Bible; received keys of authority from Moses, Elias, and Elijah; and translated the Book of Mormon? If you answered Joseph Smith, you are correct.* Joseph lived…

Fourteen-year-old Joseph Smith was worried about religion. He didn’t know which church to join. One day he read in the Bible, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, … and it shall be given him” (James 1:5). Joseph decided he would do as the scripture said and ask God which church was the right one to join. He went to a grove of trees near his…

Mormon ‘idol’ being crowned – Late last summer, after David Archuleta and Brooke White made it to the finals of the 2008 “American Idol” competition, Bob Wood began to wonder just how many other singers raised in the LDS culture had that kind of talent … [Deseret News LDS Feed] This sounds nice to me. I wish we had better ways of getting information out appropriately to LDS people about…
