This is my first time being a leader in Young Women’s. I have to teach lesson 41: Being Dependable in November. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to teach this topic? I am looking for handouts or object leassons to supplement.

    Thanks![/b]

I am sorry that no one replied to my request for help. However, I thought since I taught the lesson this past Sunday I could share my lessons learned for anyone else needing help with this lesson.

I used the parachute analogy from the manual and it went over very well. I tied 4 strings to a pencil and had four girls hold each string until the pencil was vertical. I then asked one girl to let go of the string and watched as the pencil fell. This helped demonstrate how if one person drops the ball (or string in this case!) it is hard to keep things straight and on the right path.

I also made cute fliers that had 4 driving signs with work, home, church and school next to them. I told them that they were in the Driver’s Seat and their destiny was in their hands. In order to have a good outcome they needed to be dependable in their responsibilities. I asked the girls to use the fliers as a planner for the upcoming week so that they might be able to be depended upon to complete their responsibilities. That went over well and the 2nd Counselor in the bishopric took extra sheets so that he could use them for his own FHE! :D

I hope this helps someone else who might be struggling with this lesson!

Thanks for sharing what worked for you in teaching this lesson!

There are a variety of Object Lessons on leadership and dependability in my database, and any handouts submitted that deal with this lesson are here.
