I created these license plate scripture mastery memorization aids today in preparation for my seminary class next year. They are Old Testament scriptures. I’ve included the files as printable PDFs and as JPGs so you can use them how ever you wish. The two files with the names that begin “licenseplate….” have the license tags with and without the scripture reference. They are created to be one per page so…

The original Magic Squares document by Janice Lee Griffith Tate is available at the old http://si.lds.org/ in the CES Conferences Section under Old Testament. Here’s a link: http://www.ldsces.org/old-testament/conference/ Problem is, the motions that go with the magic square are not described in the handout. I have a copy of one that a friend gave me, and I have created this handout that includes text to describe the actions. You should…

The object of the game is very simple. Each card has a set of unrelated words. When you read them aloud, they sound like familiar phrases, names, places . For example “eye knome eye read dimmer leaves” Now say it a few times and take a good guess. The answer is “I know my Redeemer lives”. Wasn’t that fun!? The rules: Divide class into two teams. There are lots of…

I made this handout to accompany my teaching of Genesis 6-8. The top part is an explanation of how it was a blessing for the Earth that God destroyed the wicked in the flood. The second area is a blank for the students to write how they have overcome storms in their lives with God’s help, like Noah. The third section is so that the students can look up the…

I don’t really consider this a “game” — at least not the way it was taught to me — but I have created these cards to teach the chronology of the Old Testament peoples. Here’s how it was taught to me. Write the following on the board: Adam | (6 chapters later) | Noah | (6 chapters later) | Abram/Abraham | two sons, Issac and Ishmael | Jacob/Israel | twelve…

I was given a copy of the Old Testament Walk Through handout several months back by a friend for use in my Seminary class. I have no idea how to do this, but I think that it’s a method of learning the history of the Bible with hand motions and little rhymes. Old Testament Walk Through was prepared for the CES Teaching Fair on the Old Testament, 13-15 August 1991,…

A schoolteacher friend made us a game based on the television show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire using Book of Mormon personalities. I altered it to use people from the Old Testament from Genesis to 1 Samuel as a review game for the kids in my class. This game takes about 10-15 minutes total to play, so I used it as part of a 3-way centers rotation between a…

I created this handout to help my students memorize the 10 commandments in Seminary. It has the scripture, the scripture with blanks, the scripture with first letters of each word, the magic squares reminders and the license plate. I folded this handout in half and laminated it so that the student could hold the side with the blanks up while someone in front of them checks their wording with the…

I blogged about this document earlier today, but I figured that no one would be interested in it — just hours later I have some requests, so I will post this here. I erased the names of my students on the chart. My chart measures 11×17 inches. I am also including a copy of the death star chart all alone so that you can create your own layout. It’s called…
