Rebus

Scripture Mastery Games

Divide the scripture into parts and have each student draw a rebus for the SM. (A rebus is when you replace words with symbols or pictures, i.e. “I” becomes a picture of an eye, “be” becomes a picture of a bee. Etc.

Beat it

Scripture Mastery Games

Have one student read the scripture aloud while you time how long it takes. Write the time on the board. Now, have one student say the first word, the next student say the next word, the third student say the third word, etc. Time and see how long this takes. Do the same thing again but faster. Can the class beat the time of the original reader?

Cover Up

Scripture Mastery Games

Using the large poster with the scripture written out (that the student prepared), have the class recite the SM together. One student then places a block of paper (these blocks can be different sizes and shapes) over some of the words. Recite again. Cover more of the poster and recite again, etc.

Quizzes

Scripture Mastery Games

Pass out 3X5 cards and have the students prepare “quizzes” on the SM they “own” (owning means they have chosen scripture masteries ahead of time to lead the class in learning ~Jenny). Make copies and save until the week you are concentrating on that scripture. Quiz ideas: Fill-in-the-blank, first letter only, unscramble (each line on the card will need to be put into the correct order).
