    Hi there sisters!

I would like to ask who ever is willing, for some serious help! ..lol…well, I was recently called as the 2nd counselor in our ward which was recently converted from a branch. We have about 15 girls that belong to our ward, but most of them are inactive. I went recently to visit serveral of them. There are two who are sisters, they are active in the church, but go to the English speaking ward (We are the Spanish speaking ward). I was thinking, and wondering to myself why they didn’t want to come to our ward-since their parents come. It occured to me when I started comeing to YW after I was called, that something was different from when I was in YW. I just though for a while that it was just a different ward, and that is why it felt so different, but after thinking of reasons why the girls didn;t come to our ward, I realized that there are a lot of things , I guess I could say, “missing” :( from when I was in YW. We don’t have a value each month, I remember we had a wooden block with colored flags representing each value and the one that we would recognize for that month would be in the elevated whole in the middle of the rest. We always had stuff to bring home on Sundays, and on mutual nights there would always be a fun activity, or project for us to do. I just remember that it was a lot more fun.
Can anyone give me some suggestions about how to emplement the monthly values, or more ideas so present to the President on how to make it warmer and how to involve the girls more? :? I have found some clip art for the opening execises, and for things to give the girls to collect each value – the flower pot idea, with the colored flowers….but would like some more ideas, and suggestions if possible.

I hope this all made since, if it didn’t I’m really sorry

    Thank you sisters!

I think you’re right — when leaders seem to take the program seriously, the girls do, too.

Here’s how I’d pick values for each month (because I’m not hung up on going in order).

Look in the Resource Guide printed in the conference edition of the Ensign. Some lessons have a related personal progress activity that can be done to accompany a lesson. Use the value from those activities as your monthly value.

Choose a tablecloth (or make one) that is the value’s color. Set up several related items to that value on the table. You could even invite a girl to share how that value has affected them during the week (sort of like a missionary moment) as part of your opening exercises.

As long as it doesn’t take from class time (and especially if your unit does not have Mutual due to special circumstances), incorporate the value activities into your lessons.

BTW, I created some value posters back in the day that can be found here:

I created them for my friend that was a YW president to use in her class for their monthly value emphasis. The leopard print seemed to fit her girls :)
