This LDS dispensations handout is based on the super cool walkthrough at http://gospeldoctrineplus.blogspot.com/2010/01/as-memory-aid-for-chronol... .  Sister Jensen's image and idea make it easy to visualize the major gospel dispensations.  

I changed some of the dates and a few other typographical errors.  I also added the definition of a dispensation from the Encyclopedia of Mormonism.

Here is a handout I made to use during our lesson on John 6 tomorrow.  The movie referenced is from BYUTV's show on the life of Jesus Christ.  I am showing just the part on the bread of life sermon.  Students will watch the movie and write down things new to them or items that they learned from their study the night before.

I am planning to use this handout to help my Seminary students learn to apply the scriptures to their lives. To me, "likening" the scriptures to ourselves applies to our lives in 3 ways -- applying that scripture to a past feeling or experience, a present activity , trial, temptation, or relationship, or a future activity, trial, temptation, or relationship. I'm hoping that this visual aid will help students drill down to an application for a scripture in their lives. There are several different versions of this. Apply.pdf is 11x17 inches. All the others are letter size.

Time during the New Testament

This handout shows what is meant by the sixth hour of the day or the watches of the night as mentioned in the New Testament.

The Roman clock, or time of day, was divided into 12 hours (Latin horae) of light and 12 hours of darkness.

Since the length of the sunlight varied with the seasons this also meant that the length of the hour changed - with shorter hours in winter and longer hours in summer. Hours could vary in length from 45 minutes to 75 minutes.

Final Exam story

Does anyone have a copy of a story about a BYU religion teacher who gave the following final exam: He left a note on the door of the test room that the exam will be given in a room across campus, and they have til 10 minutes after the hour to get to the exam room before the doors will be locked. As everyone hurried across campus, there were people along the way in need of help, someone with a flat bicycle tire, an older person needing directions, I think even a crying lost child.

New Testament Videos from LDS.org

Please consider using the new videos from the LDS Church during your New Testament Seminary course this year. Each video is short enough to be used during a daily seminary lesson.

You can download these videos to an iPad or other smart device so that you can use them without internet access. I know that the iPad can be attached to the television for play back to a group, as probably other devices can. The entire library and the smart device apps are available for free at http://biblevideos.lds.org/.
