Here is something that I tried during a Group Family Home Evening with our Branch. It is in PDF format. – Mark S. This is a PDF of a slideshow that originally played the hymns. The clues are great. Thanks for sharing, Mark!

Kathy shared this piece of original music with me to pass along to you. Enjoy! “I am 67 and I have never written music before. I was teaching Valiant 9 last year, and one day the words and melody just came to my mind. I wrote down what I could, and then Don Ripplinger, a friend of mine, took it and wrote a simple accompaniment. He has given his permission…
Check out these fantastic tips from LDS leaders on how to plan a lip sync battle! Set up Here is how one unit set up a “stage”. It looks like they used plastic tablecloths from the dollar store and pinned them to a chalkboard in a classroom. I have always loved music, and I’ve been blessed to have many opportunities to serve Heavenly Father through music. Recently the church published online new lyrics which Janice Kapp Perry wrote for “As Sisters in Zion,” in 2013. Now retitled “The Sist…
Basically its like karaoke, but you don’t actually sing – you lip-sync along with your chosen song. I pre-selected the songs (to ensure appropriateness) and brought about 20 songs and they took turns signing up for their picks. I did about 1/2 popular songs and 1/2 disney movie songs. They repeated some in the second round. Some girls did duets (even if the song wasn’t a duet). Here are the songs I used – they could sign up for 1 song per round, and we did 2 rounds:DISNEY/MUSICALS“LET IT GO” (FROZEN- DEMI LOVATO POP VERSION) _____________________“LOVE IS AN OPEN DOOR” DUET (FROZEN) _____________________“A WHOLE NEW WORLD” DUET (ALADDIN) _____________________“PART OF YOUR WORLD” (LITTLE MERMAID) _____________________“COLORS OF THE WIND” (POCHAHONTAS) ____________________“I’LL MAKE A MAN OUT OF YOU” (MULAN)_____________________“POPULAR” (WICKED THE MUSICAL) _____________________MODERN (2000’S TO PRESENT)“IF I DIE YOUNG” (THE BAND PERRY) _____________________“CALL ME MAYBE” (CARLY RAE JEPSON) _____________________“YOU BELONG WITH ME” (TAYLOR SWIFT) _____________________“BREAKAWAY” (KELLY CLARKSON) _____________________“SINCE U BEEN GONE” (KELLY CLARKSON) _____________________“SOMETHING ‘BOUT LOVE” (DAVID ARCHULETA) _____________________“ROAR” (KATY PERRY) ____________________“I WILL WAIT” – (MUMFORD & SONS) ____________________“GOOD TIME” DUET (OWL CITY)_____________________“HEY THERE DELILAH” (PLAIN WHITE T’S) _____________________“BRAVE” (SARA BAREILLES) _____________________The Disney movie songs actually turned out much better because they could sort of act along with them. If I ever do this again I would do more Disney and less pop. They really preferred the Disney songs (and most knew all the words).

And a family home evening idea about music. #DandC25 For three days, listen only to holy music, and write down what you notice. Have times of quiet too, because the Spirit whispers. Especially during times of the day that tend to be stressful or contentious, listen to holy music and see what difference it makes. My…
In short, yes, it’s okay to stand to sing during an LDS sacrament meeting service. I’m never sure where these weird rumors get started — I blame the Utahns. Congregational Singing Most Church meetings are enhanced by the singing of hymns. Music provides a primary means by which members participate in Church worship services. Congregational singing has a unique and often underused power for unifying members as they worship together….
Downloaded from: http://brosimonsays.wordpress.com/2014/04/18/easter-creating-a-christ-centered-celebration/ It may seem strange to consider at first, but after pausing to ponder we come to realize that Christmas would be meaningless without Easter. As important as the divine and miraculous birth of Jesus Christ was (and still is), it would be in vain without His redemptive, atoning sacrifice that shattered the chains of death with a triumphant resurrection (To study […]

Downloaded from: http://ocdprimarychorister.blogspot.com/2014/01/how-to-lead-music.html I’ve seen the topic come up several times recently, Do you need musical talent to teach Primary Singing Time?My answer is: not necessarily. The most important part of being Primary Chorister is helping the children to learn the principles in the songs we teach through the Spirit. We can show respect, reverence, and love without an ounce of musical ability. Before I was called, I was a symphony…
