2012 Mutual Theme: Arise and Shine Forth D&C 115:5

Information on the 2012 mutual theme has been announced -- "Arise and Shine Forth"!

A notice dated August 1, 2011, announced the 2012 Mutual theme: “Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations” (Doctrine and Covenants 115:5).

Leaders are encouraged to use the theme as a focus of “special cultural events and other dance, music, and drama activities.” Leaders may also introduce the theme with a new DVD, Strength of Youth Media 2012: Arise and Shine Forth, which will be sent to units in November 2011. Additional resource material in support of the theme will be available in the New Era and Liahona magazines and on LDS.org at the beginning of 2012.

Arise and Shine Forth was the mutual theme in 2006, so I've already got a big collection of helps for the new theme.

Doesn't sound like the DVDs

Doesn't sound like the DVDs will be out until January: "Strength of Youth Media 2012: Arise and Shine Forth is a collection of video and music resources centered on the 2012 mutual theme for young men and young women that will be available online in mid-December, with copies of DVDs sent to units in early 2012." (http://lds.org/church/news/2012-mutual-theme?lang=eng)

Yeah -- the original press release was wrong. The church has gotten really bad about missing deadlines.

You'll see the 2012 theme stuff at http://youth.lds.org/ when it's ready, but it seems the mid-December release date for those materials has also been missed.
