The scriptures are full of sybolism so that we can relate theological concepts to everyday items. I bring in as many items as I can that are used symbolically in the scriptures. It’s really remarkable how many things I can find. The children’s stuffed animals provide a lion, lamb, serpent, etc. Salt, oil, milk, meat, bread, yeast (leavening) and more from the kitchen. A coin, lamp, candle, basket, tree branch, seed, rose, key, stone…well, you get the idea. The objective is to be reminded of the scriptural teachings when going about everyday tasks. I first gave this lesson in Relief Society and later in Primary. It works on all levels.
