During each presidency meeting, leaders typically take a few minutes to do a short leadership training. Usually, this training lasts only for a few minutes, but it can be invaluable for helping grow new leaders in the church. I think it's especially useful in youth class presidency meetings, but I've participated in them during ward council, welfare, presidency meetings and stake meetings.
Here are some suggestions for possible topics during leadership training:
- Read and discuss the tips from the Church's website for your calling:
- Relief Society FAQ
- Visiting Teaching FAQ
- Young Women Leader Tips
- Young Women Training Videos
- Primary FAQ
- Sunday School FAQ
- Priesthood Record Keeping FAQ - PDF. Includes 57 pages of obscure MLS questions and their answers.
- Priesthood Record Keeping and Auditing training - includes video training and printable manuals for MLS, audits, tithing settlement, calling clerks, and stake information
- Young Men FAQ
- Aaronic Priesthood Training Videos
- Music Leader FAQ
- Music Leader Calling information - information on specific stake and ward/branch level callings.
- Music Leader Calling information - information on specific stake and ward/branch level callings.
- Activities Director Main Page
- Relevant training information received at stake meetings.
- Instructions on how to fill out forms. For example, in my RS presidency we study how to fill in and report attendance, how to interpret visiting teaching statistics, and how to fill out and place an order with the Bishop's storehouse.
- Read and discuss sections from the handbook.
- Review Instructions on Clothing the Dead who have Received their Endowment
- Review information from the Worldwide Leadership Training Broadcasts
