Great Garden Goal - 2006

Preparation:
Invite participants to attend a Cinco de Mayo fiesta. Challenge them to bring a home made salsa to enter in a contest that night.
On the 5th of May, our ward held a Mexican pot-luck. As Ward Preparedness Specialist, I had started seedlings for tomatoes, jalepenos, onions and cliantro. We passed them out at the dinner with the challenge for families to support our Stake President's call that every member in the stake plant at least one food item in their yard or in a pot in their apartment this year. In September we have scheduled another pot-luck fiesta where the ward members will bring the produce from the plants they received. We will have a salsa making table, making salsa for the dinner and sending jars home for members to give to their neighbors.
