Handbooks on fly tying
A large eye hook
Silk or nylon tying thread
Feather to be used at the tail
Wool yarn or silk floss for the body
Tinsel for ribbing
Hackle
Feathers with straight quills
Sticky wax
Cement
Vise
Hackle pliers
Bodkin

How to do it .
1. Invite an expert to talk about fly tying. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of fly fishing.

2. Demonstrate the different flies that can be made Explain when and why they are used.

3. Let each young person tie a fly according to the directions given by the expert.

4. Plan and go on a fishing trip where fly fishing can be practiced.


Bait and Fly Fishing

Rods
Reels
Lines
Bait
Stream, lake, or other body of water that contains fish

How to do it
1. Invite a specialist to teach the basics of fishing. Have him explain the type of equipment needed and the difference between fly fishing and bait fishing.

2. Conduct a bait casting contest using a plug as the bait. The person who can cast the farthest is the winner.
a. Cast from a four-foot (1,2m) square marked on the ground. Do not count casts made from outside this box.
b. Using one hand, cast onto water or ground.
c. Allow each person to cast four times. Compute an average distance on the best three casts.
d. Judge for distance and accuracy. The person with the highest average and most accurate casts wins.

3. Go on a fishing trip where these skills can be used.
