our primary music leader told me that the kids are not supposed to lift thier scriptures anymore when they sing scripture power--i was subbing at the piano at the time. she called me to sub for her on sunday (the music leader) and i double checked about the scripture lifting and why it had been stopped. she said she didn't know--she just did what she was told and wondered if it might just be something our local stake primary president decided. she told me that the kids would not sing the song as well when they didn't lift their scriptures.
i am wondering if this is just a local thing, or if this directive is something that has come down from the general primary presidency. i certainly want to follow what the church wants us to do, but i'm also in a stake that seems to do things their own way----i almost felt like i had changed religions when i moved here---and it was only from across town!! we live in a fairly small town with only two stakes. if it is just a local thing, i would hate to see the kids quality of singing go down because of one persons personal preferences. but if it has come from higher up, i'm sure they had a reason for it. regardless, i won't have the kids do it on sunday---i just want to know if this is a church wide thing or not.
