I handed each of them this picture to put in their journals. We discussed what they thought it wasWhere is was leadingAny feelings they had Many of them thought what ever was at the bottom, couldn’t be goodDid it even have a bottom? Then I read this statement: by Elder H. Ross Workman of the Seventy:“Murmuring consists of three steps, each leading to the next in a descending path to disobedience.” First, people begin to question. They question “first in their own minds,” and then they plant questions “in the minds of others.” Second, those who murmur begin to “rationalize and excuse themselves from doing what they [have] been instructed to do. … Thus, they [make] an excuse for disobedience.” Their excuses lead to the third step: “Slothfulness in following the commandment of the Master. …(found in the Book of Mormon teacher manual pg 23)this lead to a wonderful discussion about sloths which turned into them talking about not being a sloth in their everyday lives
I simply love the new Book of Mormon curriculum. I know it is inspired from the Lord through our prophet. The lessons are very easy to prepare, the students are in engaged asking questions, and teaching each other. What a blessing it is to teach from this manual! My class feels the difference, they most likely don’t even know why!!
