Sharing Time Ideas from 2014 Primary OutlineIDENTIFY THE DOCTRINE(seeing pictures): Pretend to be a reporter. Tell the children, “Welcome to the Good News Network! Today I have the greatest news to report to you—each one of you can become a member of the true Church of Jesus Christ! This is one of the most important things you can do in your life. You become a member of the Church through baptism (show a picture of a child being baptized) and confirmation (show a picture of a child being confirmed).”
ENCOURAGE UNDERSTANDING(reading scriptures):  Divide the children into groups and give each group one or more of the following questions and corresponding scripture references. Invite them to imagine what they would say if a reporter asked them these questions. Ask them to find the answers in their scriptures.
1. Why must I be baptized? (See John 3:5; Acts 2:38.)2. When am I old enough to be baptized? (See D&C 68:27.)3. Who can baptize me? (See D&C 20:73.)4. How should I be baptized? (See D&C 20:74.)5. What does baptism symbolize? (See Romans 6:3–5.)6. How do I prepare for baptism? (See Alma 7:15–16; 19:35.)7. What do I promise at baptism? (See Mosiah 18:10.)8. What do I promise every Sunday when I take the sacrament and renew my baptismal covenants? (See D&C 20:77.)
ENCOURAGE APPLICATION(answering questions): Pretend to interview some of the children. Ask them to report what they learned about how you become a member of the Church.

Sharing Time Ideas from Little LDS IdeasFor this week’s Sharing Time I am going to use an FHE idea that I shared a couple months ago. Enjoy!

For this Sharing Time you will be creating a ‘Punch Board’. You will Need: Foam boardPlastic cupsGlue (Hot glue works great)Blue tissue paperQuestions (I am sharing some below)
Since this week is talking about baptism I thought an ‘8’ punch board would be great.Get your board and place your cups into the shape of a figure eight. Then, one by one, glue the cups to the foam board.
Next, you will be placing questions into each cup. The Sharing Time Outline had some great questions, so I used those and created some cute little cards that you could use for your punch board. Here is what they look like:Click HERE to print out my ‘Baptism Punch’ Question Cards.
After all of the questions are inside of a cup cover up the cups with blue tissue paper. For this just cut square pieces of tissue paper {make sure they’re larger than the mouth of the cup}.Place a piece of tissue paper over a cup and then place a rubber band around it. I had a little helper which made it so much easier. I held the tissue paper around the cup and she put the rubber band on.
To Play:  Invite a child up to the front and have them punch into one of the cups. Have them retrieve the question and read it aloud. Have the children look it up as a Primary and read the scripture together. Discuss the answer with the whole primary.
Another way to Play: You could Split the Primary into groups and have each group punch one or more of the cups. Have them read the question(s) and Scripture(s) as a group. After everyone has read and answered their question have them share it with the rest of the children.
More Cups than Questions! If you notice…my ‘8’ had alot more than 8 cups (that’s how many questions were provided in the outline). You can try to make a smaller figure eight OR have the top 8 cups the questions given in the outline.Have the bottom portion of the ‘8’ other types of questions. You could have scenarios, or charades, drawing (pictionary), etc. You could even do command type questions: “Stand up if you have been baptized.“You could even have some questions that ask the children to share a special memory from their baptism. Whatever you do…will be great!

I hope you like my Baptism Punch idea for this week’s Sharing Time. I’d love to hear if you use it.  Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.Have a wonderful day & a great Sharing Time!
