I have always been an advocate of planning with a purpose, making sure our activities have a purpose. Whether it is unifying, personal progress or service. I especially love having an activity that will drive home a lesson we had on Sunday.
We have been wanting to do some service, so we decided to make some food for some families in our ward who were sick, or just needed it.
With our lessons being on the Godhead all of January and our last lesson being on the Roles of the Holy Ghost- 2 Nephi 32:3 came to my mind. Especially “Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do”
We wanted this to be a learning opportunity as well- so those who did not know how to brown meat- got to do that out of their group
We talked about fast Sundays and how awesome it is to sit down to dinner after fasting
We asked them if they eat differently after fasting then they do every night at dinner- we compared that to “Feasting”
and talked about the difference of just reading the scriptures and feasting on the scriptures- when you feast, the Holy Ghost will show unto you all things what ye should do – 2 Nephi 32:5-6
This daily guide can be ours if we are willing, and if we stay focused on the true and the kind and the virtuous, the Holy Ghost will tell us what to do.
We had a great time and the youth had a great time.
